Question
We have come across some old share certificates from a family estate as follows:

Capital Oil and Natural Gas Company, Limited dated April 1929.
Woodbury Mines Limited dated December 1955
First National Uranium Mines Limited dated March 1968

Can you tell us if there is any value to them.

Thank you.

Answer
George, from the information I have available:

I have no information on Capital Oil. However, since the certificate predates the stock market crash and the Great Depression, the odds of any current value is slim. However, I suggest you contact a broker and see if they can perform a detailed search for you.

Woodbury has no current value. The company was dissolved in 1960.

First National Uranium sold their assets to Gramera Mercantile on the basis of 1 share of Gramera for every 10 National Uranium shares. Gramera did a 1 for 5 reverse stock split and became Groundstar Resources, which is still around - it trades for about 14 cents per share on the TSX Venture Exchange. You will need to contact the current transfer agent, Computershare (www.computershare.com) to determine if the old shares are valid and, if so, about reorganizing the old shares into the new.
