Question
About 20 years ago, I bought 100 shares from Canadian United  minerals and a couple of years back,  the company was sold to Mansfield MInerals inc. Recently, I recieved a letter informing me that the 100 shares would entitle me to 20 new shares. What does it mean and how wealth is my investment to date. Thanks.

Answer
From the information I have available, Canadian United did have a 1 for 5 reverse split and changed its name to Mansfield in 1990.

Assuming that Mansfield has not had any other capital changes, you would still have 20 shares of Mansfield which trades for about $1.75 a share. That would mean your shares are worth about $35 today. To confirm the validity and value of your shares, you will need to contact the current transfer agent, Valiant Trust (www.valianttrust.com)
