Question
In going though some papers that were passed down to me through my grandparents and then my parents, I ran across two share certificates for Big Long Lac Gold Mining Company Limited which apparently was incorporated in the Province of Ontario.  The certificates are dated 5/28/1936 and certify that Playfair & Co is the owner of them.  The reverse side of both certificates indicates that Provincial and Dominion Transfer Taxes haven been paid.  I think they would have been issued in Ottawa, Ontario.  Can you shed any light on them?  Thanks so much for any information.

Answer
Andrew, from the information I have available, the Company became Commstar, which was later acquired by Applied Cellular Technology on the basis of 1 Applied share for each 3.62 Commstar shares. Applied is now Digital Angel, which trades on the OTCBB for about 18 cents per share. You will need to contact their transfer agent to see if they have your shares on their books as a valid shareholder - you can find that contact information at their website, http://www.digitalangel.com/
