Question
I have shares in La Ronge Uranium Mines Limited that were purchased in 1952. The company was incorporated in Ontario and the transfer agents were The Premier Trust Company of Toronto.

I also have shares in North Frontier Explorations Limited,Goldstar Explorations Limited & Kelly-K Mines Limited all issed by Rosmar Corporation Limited and purchased 1964-1966

Can you give me any idea what these might be worth or where I can inquire to find the value? Thanks.

Answer
Janet, I have been asked about La Ronge numerous times, which suggests there are a lot of old certificates out there. I don't have any information about it, so as the Transfer Agent is defunct, your best course of action is to inquire at the Provincial Level. The province of incorporation should be listed on the certificate - they can tell you the current status of the company and usually provide contact information if they are still around. You can also take the certificate to a broker who can run a more detailed search.

From the information I have available:

North Frontier has no value. The Company became Sakfield Mines, which later had its charter cancelled and dissolved in the mid-1970's.

Goldstar was dissolved in the early 1980's.

Kelly-K did a 3 for 50 reverse and became Summit Explorations, which did a 2 for 3 reverse and became Sumtra Diversified. Sumtra is on the NEX Board of the TSX Venture for about 1/2 a cent. The current transfer agent is Equity (http://equityfinancialtrust.com/).
