hi steven i have 40 shares in a company called columbia beneficial holdings  ltd which  created it s own life insurance   company ( a peat moss co) its buiness plan was in1968  was to aquire  some financial  , trust , and morgage companies did this happen  am i( rich )cause so far  i have struck out on the other stocks i have asked you about .do you    know any thing ab out  southern alberta  co-operative  association as  dad had shres in that company  too  richard c

Richard, from the information I have available, Columbia did try to become a financial conglomerate, but failed. The Company was liquidated in 1972. Common shareholders received very little in the form of a couple hundred thousand shares of NW Financial (I am not sure what ratio those shares were distributed to Columbia shareholders, but it could not have been very many NW shares per Columbia shareholder). NW changed names a couple of times and had a 1 for 10 reverse split before being acquired in 1988 for 75 cents cash per share.

I have no information on Southern Alberta Co-Op. Co-ops were usually local organizations that were never publicly traded.
