Question
I have found old stocks in my grandfather & grandmothers names the stocks are: Amalgamated Kirkland Mines ltd.-1944, Robertson Steel Company ltd. -1944, Hiawatha Gold Mines ltd. - 1940, The North American Oil and Gas Company - 1908, Consolidated Ontario Gold Mines ltd. 1934 most of them are registered by the Trusts and Guarantee Company Toronto Canada would they be worth anything

Answer
Dean, those certificates are very old, and predate most of the information I have available. I do, however, have information on 3 of them.

Hiawatha has no value - it was dissolved in the 1960's.

Consolidated Ontario Gold has no value. It went out of business in the late 1930's.

Amalgamated Kirkland had its assets acquired by Mayfield Exploration & Developments in the early 1970's. I assume shareholders received Mayfield shares, but cannot confirm it. Mayfield later did a 1 for 10 reverse split and changed names 3 times. The ended as Selient Inc., which was acquired by CRI Canada in December 2007 for 17.2526 per share cash. If your grandparents were still listed on the books as owning shares and the cash was not sent to them, it would have been turned over to the government for safekeeping. You need to search the missing property offices of every State or Province in which they lived from the date they acquired the certificate until the buyout. You can search many of them online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org. Search using the name (or names) as they appear on the certificate EXACTLY - even if they are misspelled or abbreviated.
