I have some old mining share certificates worth about $500.00
how do I cash them in and get the money into my brokerage account?

Mike, if you already have a brokerage account, you should be able to deposit those old shares into your existing account. Your broker will be able to assist you with any reorganization required to get the shares into sellable condition by contacting the transfer agents on your behalf. They should be able to take care of most of the paperwork for you.
