Question
I have some shares in Dome Canada and would like to know if they are worth anything. Dome Canada became a public company in March 1981 Sometime during the late 80's it became know by a different name. Do you know this name and any other information about Dome Canada. thank you

Answer
Brian, from the information I have available, Dome changed its name to Encor Energy, which was later acquired by TransCanada Pipelines in 1988. Encor shareholders received $9.375 cash per share.

The registered holder of the shares should have received a check back in 1988. The return of the certificate may not have been required to receive the cash. If not, the money would have been turned over to the government for safekeeping waiting for the registered holder to claim it. Since that is 20 years ago, it is unlikely the money, if unclaimed, is still available, but you can search many States and Provinces online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org.
