Question
We have shares left by my father from Resolute Oil & Gas Co. Limited. They were purchased in 1957. My Dad died in 1969. The shares were left to my mother and she died in 1997. They were left to her children. I was asked to investigate by my siblings.

The last information in this file was a report from The Board of Directors recommending that the Company be changed to The Resolute Corporation. This was July 1988. Do you know what other changes have taken place since that time? We are interested in learning the per share value.

Thank you.

Answer
Annette, from the information I have available, the company did a 1 for 5 reverse stock split in 1965 and changed its name to Resolute Petroleums, and then in 1988, the Company changed its name to again The Resolute Corporation. I know they were around for a couple of years, but in 1990 they seem to have disappeared, and I don't know why.

If there is a transfer agent listed on the certificate, I would attempt to contact them first, as they will know if there is any value. You could also try the Province of Incorporation (Ontario, I believe) and see what information they have on the company. Or, you could take the certificate to a broker and see if they can perform a more detailed search for you.
