Question
Hello Steven! Happy New Year!
I recently discovered a old stock certificate from
a storage unit auction, and in all my efforts to find any
information on my own has turned up nothing. Please help!!
Here is what appears on the certificate:

Ray-Net Communication System Inc. Dated Nov 19, 1987
Guaranty Trust of Canada  cusip # 75656c 10 2
Vancouver, Canada
Any, and all, information will be greatly appreciated!!

         THANX SO MUCH!!

Answer
Gary, from the information I have available, the shares have no current value. The Company became Ixora Communications, which wad later dissolved.

Even if the certificate had value, it is highly unlikely you would be able to sell it. Certificates are not bearer instruments - it is not like a dollar bill that anyone who has possession can spend it. Instead, certificates only represent ownership - they do not convey it. That is why they are numbered and have the owners name printed on them. In order to convey ownership, the certificate has to be legally transferred over, which requires the former owner's signature AND it must be correctly registered with the transfer agent/registrar. Even if this certificate had value, the person named on the certificate would still be the owner, as they are still on the ownership rolls with the transfer agent, and could just declare a "lost certificate" and get a new one issued. Just "finding" a certificate is meaningless.
