Question
I am reviewing documents of my Dad's as he is quite ill and cam across this share certificate and was wondering what it is. It looks like a formal certificate and says "Softcop Corporation" and is dated June 27, 1994 and signed by several people.
What is it and does it have any value or should I just destroy it?
Thanks

Answer
Jacqueline, from the information I have available, the shares have no current value. The Company was cease-traded in 1996 and that cease-trade order remains in effect. The DTC also sent notice in 2009 that because of the extended non-transferability of the stock, brokerage firms that had the certificate in inventory could safely destroy them. In this case, it looks OK for you to do the same.
