Question
Hi, I found an old certificate for 16 shares of Canada Southern Petroleum Ltd. and it is dated November 16, 1970. I am wondering if it is worth anything? It has been Countersigned and Registered in the U.S. by: The First National Bank Of New Jersey City, and is signed with an authorized signature.
Help! Thank you for your time, you are very kind!
Susan

Answer
Susan, Canada Southern was acquired by Canadian Oil Sands Trust in 2006 for $13.10 per share cash.

The person named on the certificate should have received a check for the full amount in 2006. If not, the money would have been turned over to the government for safekeeping. You can search many States and Provinces online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org.
