Question
I have a couple of old certificates emitted in 1969 and 1970 from the Royal Trust company, for a total of 45 shares.

Does these certificate have any value?

Thank you!

Answer
Oliver, from the information I have available, Royal Trust exchanged its shares for Royal Trustco shares on the basis of 1 Royal Trustco share for every 3 Royal Trust shares. Royal Trustco later became Gentra, which went through some other changes and is now Brookfield Office Properties, which trades on the TSX and NYSE for about $17 per share. You will need to contact the current transfer agent, who I believe is Canadian Stock Transfer (www.canstockta.com) to determine if the old certificates are valid and have current value.
