Question
I purchased employee stock with WestJet several years ago and I still have a few valued around $1000 IN PAPER CERTIFICATE form. I am wondering how do I cash these stocks in the cheapest fastest way if I do not have an open stock account. Is there a way to do it online?

Answer
Diana, in order to sell your stock you will have to open a brokerage account, but there are quite a few brokerage firms that operate online and will allow you to open an account electronically. However, you will have to send your paper certificate to the broker in order to sell it, either by mail or in person.

I cannot recommend any specific broker to you, but you can search many firms online, or try contacting your bank as most banks now offer brokerage services to their depositors.
