Question
I have a share certificate from 1985 for 5000 shares of Texore Mines Limited. Transfer agent is Crown Trust , Toronto. Would these shares be of any value?

Answer
Connie, from the information I have available, the shares have no current value. The Company was cease-traded in 1977, and that cease trade order remains in effect. Your certificate is likely from the period when the transfer agent decided that, because of the extended cease-trade order, they would send the certificates out to shareholders and get them off their books. I also note that it appears the DTCC later ordered the certificates left in their vaults to be destroyed due to no value and non-transferability.
