Question
My mother recently passed away and we found a stock certificate that was issued to her parents.  The certificate says Spooner Mines and Oils Limited (incorporated under the laws of Canada).  500 shares.  It looks like my mom had requested a transfer to her name in 1993 via Montreal Trust which stated that the 500 shares were exchangeable to 166 shares of Canadian Spooner Resources Inc. (but we haven't found any confirmation of the transfer).  Would this stock still be worth anything?

Answer
Pamela, from the information I have available, the shares have no current value. Spooner Mines did have a 1 for 3 reverse split and became Canadian Spooner, but it was cease-traded, suspended and delisted in 2005. Those cease-trade orders remain in effect.
