Question
My father has his certificate for 250 shares. Does this company still exist? My grandfather, a mining engineer, bought it in the 30s or 40s because he knew the people developing the mine. I'm not basing my retirement on this stock, I just thought it would be interesting to find out what happened to the company.

Answer
Margaret, from the information I have available, the shares have no current value. The Company underwent numerous name changes and at least 2 reverse splits (1 for 12 and 1 for 10) and became Central Asia Goldfields, which was suspended, delisted and cease-traded in 1999. Those cease-trade orders remain in effect.
