Question
my wife came across a share certificate dated may 24th, 1991 for 300 shares of duke enterprises ltd. am curious to find out what became of this company and is there any value to the certificate.

Answer
Art, from the information I have available, Duke had numerous name changes and is currently Pacific Bay Minerals, which currently trades for about 4 cents per share. Unfortunately the company has also had numerous reverse splits. 1 for 5, then 1 for 3, then another 1 for 5. Those consolidations would have reduced the original 300 shares to just 4, worth less than the price of a stamp. You can confirm this information with the current transfer agent, Computershare (www.computershare.com)
