Question
I have some old mining stock certificates which were purchased many years ago.  Can you please tell me if they have any value?
Northwest Ventures Ltd.  issued June 24, 1970
Earl crest Resources Ltd. (N.P.L.)  issued Aug. 18, 1972
Alwin Mining Company Ltd. (N.P.L.)  issued March 18, 1969

Thanks for your help

Answer
Patty, from the information I have available:

Northwest Ventures has had an extremely complicated history. I has had at least 6 mergers and/or name changes and many capital changes. Today I believe it is part of Enerplus Corporation, which trades on the TSX and NYSE. You will need to contact the current transfer agent, Computershare (www.computershare.com) as they should be able to sort it out and confirm if the old certificate has any value.

The Earlcrest has no current value. They had a merger before being dissolved in the 1980's.

Alwin has no current value. The Company also had a merger before being dissolved in the early 1980's.
