Question
Hello Mr. Taylor.

Perhaps you could shed some light on these certificates that my Mom has.
Strathearn House Group Limited - Shares 25 - Number AF 0296 - Dated March 14 1973
Strathearn House Group Limited - Subscription Certificate - Rights 25 - Number 01185 - Dated March 26 1984

Memotec Data Inc. - Shares 10 - Number A2702 - Dated March 24 1983.
Memotec Data Inc. - Shares 10 - Number C25198 - Dated August 13 1987.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Answer
Sheree, from the information I have available:

Strathearn ran into serious financial difficulty and their operating units were taken over by creditors. The stock was suspended, cease-traded and delisted in 1992. Those cease-trade orders remain in effect. No current value.

Memotec became Teleglobe, which was acquired by BCE in 2000 for 0.91 of a BCE share for every share of Teleglobe. BCE currently trades for about $43 a share. You will need to contact the current transfer agent (www.canstockta.com) to determine if the old certificates are valid and, if so, to have them reorganized into the new BCE shares.
