Question
I believe this company is now private. When my father passed away he had 32 Shares issued Sept 25, 1980. This was a company incorporated in British Columbia Canada.I am trying to determine if they have any value.

Answer
Barbara, from the information I have available:

The Company had a 1 for 2 reverse split and continued as Cogas. Cogas merged in 1995 with Canadian Pioneer Energy. Cogas holders received $5.95 cash for half the shares and 1.088 Canadian Pioneer common shares for the other half. Later in 1995, Canadian Pioneer was acquired by Cimmaron Petroleum. Shareholders received 1 Cimmaron share for every 32.34 Canadian Pioneer shares held. Since your father had fewer than 32.34 shares, he would have received a check for his remaining shares at that time.
