Question
I have come across  certificates for 200 shares of westar purchased in the 1980's  do they have any value and how would I process a claim if they do?

Answer
Anita, from the information I have available, the Company was taken private in 1997 for $70 per share cash. The registered holder should have received a check at that time. If not, the money would have been turned over to the government for safekeeping. You could search for the money online at www.missingmoney.com or www.naupa.org.
