Question
I have just spent $80.00 and feel like I have failed I want to make candles which I am learning but it sinks and my wick melts what do I do I tried pouring more wax but ren my wick melts should I use longer wicks? Please help

Answer
Hi Phyllis,

I am not sure what you mean the way you explained it.  But if you are saying the wick falls down, you need to use a longer wick and clamp it on the top of the jar with something.  Then you can cut it.

What some people do is use a long wick, tie the end or clamp it to a pencil or something long enough to sit on the jar you are filling.  After it sets, cut the wick to the desired height above the wax or gel.

As for the wick melting, I don't know why that would be unless your wax is too hot.

Good luck, John

Expertise

I can answer most questions about making Gel candles. Tips, tricks, do`s and don`ts, types of gel, creativity, where to buy supplies, etc... I can not answer questions on wax candles or soap. Though we sold wax candles and I know a little about them, I do not know enough to answer any advanced wax candle questions.

Experience

I owned a gel candle company which made gel candles and sold them at our own gel candle boutique on Long Island.
