Candle & Soap Making/using wax block candle dye for soap

Question
Hello, I have this huge, great set of wax block candle dyes, and much left after the project. Wondering if I can successfully use small bits to color melt & pour soap? I've researched this online, and have found nothing addressing this. Would rather not ruin a batch(es) and waste time, so your response is SO appreciated!
Thanks much,
-Lindy

Answer
Hi Lindy,

Although I'm not a soap maker, I don't think that you could use wax block candle dyes on your melt and pour soap. Wax block dyes are oil based which would not adhere well to soap. As we know, oil and water do not mix. In order to color soap from what I understand, you would need to use a water based dye.

Hope that helps
