Candle & Soap Making/Colored Wax

Question
Hi, I wanted to make my own candles and I wanted to add colors to them, for instance for a Santa candle I could add red to just his coat and gold to his belt.  How could I do that?  How do you make wax colors?

Answer
Hi Heather,

The most common way for wax to be colored is using candle dye.  If you want your candle to be red, you'd have to add the dye to your wax and make sure it's well mixed. Candle dyes can come in liquid form, chunks, or chips.  They all do the same thing, it's just what ever you would prefer. Another way would be to paint the candle.  Pour the wax as you would but don't add the dye.  Use paint to paint the areas are needed. You can find these type of paints at any hobby store.
