Candle & Soap Making - Homemade Bubble Bath without soap?

Expert: Terry Knorr - 8/1/2005

Question
Greetings.

A few years ago I stumbled across a recipe for homemade bubble bath. I liked how easy the recipe was, so I made some, and fell in love with it. However, I did not keep the recipe. I am 99% sure that there was no soap base, all the ingredients were already in the kitchen. It did call for Gelatin, but aside from that I am unsure. Have you ever heard of this recipe, and if so, can you send it my way? Thanks.
Amanda

Answer
Hi Amanda!

I have not been able to locate a recipe for bubblebath that dosn't use either soap or detergent.  However, I did find one that does use gelatin.

Bath Jelly Recipe
An interesting new bath idea!

1 Packet of unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup of liquid soap
3/4 Cup of water
Food Coloring
Fragrance oils or essential oils
Plastic storage jar with lid

Add a small toy into the Jelly before it sets to give the kids an incentive to get to the bottom of the Jelly soap. Dispose of the jelly after several weeks or if mould is present, Avoid mould by keeping it in an airtight container in a cool place at all times.

Empty the packet of gelatin into a bowl and set aside.. Boil 3/4 cup of water using a saucepan or Kettle. Carefully pour the hot water into mixing bowl and mix it with the gelatin powder.Let the gelatin dissolve completely .

Next pour the liquid soap into the gelatin mix in the bowl.

Add 2 drops of food coloring into the mix and also add your fragrance oil now (about 5 drops) and stir it very gently so the bubbles do not become agitated .

Pour the Mix into the clean storage container and allow to set for several hours in the refrigerator

HOW TO USE : Place a small amount of jelly under the running water , a small plastic spoon in the Jar would be a good idea .

I found this on a website at http://www.kitchencraftsnmore.net/bath1.9.html

I hope this helps.  It's all I've been able to locate for you.  Have a great day.

Terry
