Candle & Soap Making - Melt and Pour soap

Expert: Terry Knorr - 11/11/2004

Question
When I pour my soap into a mold, alot of times I get tiny air bubble, I guess you would call them, on top of my "bar".  What causes it or at least can you tell me how to prevent it?  Thanks, Frustrated Ellen

Answer
Hi Ellen!

Those air bubbles typically result from stirring the melt and pour soap.  Try using a double boiler; very little stirring will be needed.

I also know of some people who mist their soap with ethyl alcohol (grain alcohol) to remove the bubbles.  Care must be used because ethyl alcohol is very flamable  --  do not use over an open flame.

I hope this information helps you.  Feel free to contact me if you still have any problems.

Happy Soaping!
Terry
