Candle & Soap Making - wax or gel candle?

Expert: Samantha - 8/9/2003

Question
I would like to make some beverage-scented candles for friends using old demi-tasse or espresso cups. Which candle type would be best, gel or wax?

Answer
Vicki,

Usually gel wax would be best for that if you are making a candle in a beverage that can be seen through. Like for soda, coffee, or beer you can see through it, so gel is better. If at some point you were to make a smoothie drink candle, use parrafin, as is more opaque and creamy.

Happy wicking!!
Samantha
