Canine Behavior/Bitch been speyed

Question
I have a year old cross lab/ staff bull terrier rescue dog.  before she was speyed she was displaying signs of wanting a male dog, although she wasnt in season,  we had her speyed last week and she is just as bad as ever, trying to sit and rub herself on my feet, and taking my hand in her mouth and trying to place it underneath her.  This is driving me nuts as i cant clap her head anymore for her turning around and giving me her hind end.  Is this just a habbit with her now or will this stop!

Any advice would be appreciated!

Julie

Answer
You may have spayed this dog before her hormones resolved.  One optimally waits six to eight weeks after a heat cycle before spaying.  You may not have seen signs of her being in season but it's likely she was at the end of a heat cycle when she was spayed.  Within two months, this hormone driven behavior should stop.  Meanwhile, when she offers her hind end, get up and walk away.  Totally ignore any behavior that you do not like and, in the meantime, teach the dog some simple behaviors you can reward, like sitting on command.
