Question
HI, MY FEMALE BOXER STARTET ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO TO URINATE IN THE HOUSE, EVEN AFTER A WALK SHE WILL URINATE. LATELY I FIND IT ON THE STAIRS, SHE SLEEPS UPSTAIRS AND I BELIVE WHEN SHE COMES UPSTAIRS IN THE NIGHT SHE CAN'T HOLD IT, DO YOU HAVE ANY ANSWERS FOR ME , BECAUSE SHE RUINS THE WHOLE HOUSE WITH ALL THIS PEE.

Answer
Any time a dog who is housetrained loses that training for apparently no reason, I'd suspect that it's not a behavior problem, but a medical problem. I'd make an appointment at my vet's. It might be a urniary tract infection, in which case a round of antibiotics could solve the problem, or spay incontenence (vet might prescribe Proin)or a few other causes. It could even be cognative disorder (and there's also medication that helps that). But I'd sure rule out a physical cause first. And then I would make sure she gets out more often and keep track of where she urinates so you know her schedule. Increase your supervision and don't leave her loose when you can't supervise. Clean soiled areas thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner. But I bet your vet finds something and that should be your first step. Sandy Case BFA, MEd CPDT www.positivelycanine.com
