Question
My 3 year old bull terrier bitch urinates in her bed most nights even though her water is restricted 1 hr before & she is left only 6 hours or so. A scan showed a narrow urethra on one side but I was assured by my vet this was'nt a problem. She is well looked after & is eating & drinking normally. We spend quality time with her every day I'm convinced the problem is medical but the ultra sound showed nothing. She was spayed a 6 month. Her weight is normal. Help!

Answer
I would not restrict her water necessarily, as that likely has no bearing on this.  My guess is that she has "spay incontinence", which is usually due to relaxation of the sphincter that normally holds the urine back.  Being wet upon waking is a classic symptom.  There are a couple of medications that your vet may suggest.  One is phenylpropanolamine (Proin), the other is diethylstilbestrol.
