Question
I just got a rescue dog named China who I absolutely love. She's a chihuahua mix who is very scared of everything which is to be expected from rescue dogs. My problem is she is VERY attached to me; and my husband and son cannot get near me without her biting them...hard! She is by me every step of the way, every day and I have to isolate myself for her to feel comfortable. My 4 year old nephew was bringing me a book to read to him and she bit him on his forehead. I don't have any idea what to do, please help!! Thank you

Answer
Hi

This is quite serious but I am unfortunately unable to deal with aggression cases online - they need to be fully assessed and treated in person.  Contact the rescue center initially to see if they can help or recommend anyone to you.  She is frightened and is trying to protect herself and you so any punishment or anger will make it worse - she needs to have her confidence very gently built up so she relaxes around other people as well as yourself.

Good luck with her
