Canine Behavior/Behavior problem after hair has been trimmed.

Question
I have a Japanese Spitz who is 1 year and 10 months old. We brought him to the vet to have his hair trimmed since his hair is not in good condition. Skin head trimmed. After bringing him home he acts differently now. He does not bark anymore which is something strange, for my JS barks on anything specially cats from neighbors passing by. And he ate his poop for the very 1st time which is absurd. His running all over the house now like his irritated. His bitting his feet. His having a hard time peeing and pooing. What could have happened to our dog? Is he going through stress or emotional breakdown after his hair was trimmed? It's the first time his hair was trimmed. We just want our old dog back. The sweet, constantly barking, playful dog. Thank you in advance.

Answer
Dear Joms,
Thanks for the question. I've known dogs whose behavior changed drastically after being groomed. The ones I know were very very matted. Was your guy's hair in awful shape- so bad that they had to cut it all off?

IF so, perhaps he will get used to his new cut and become the dog he was. If not, have him checked by your vet. You mentioned "having a hard time peeing and pooping". What does that mean and have you discussed this with your vet. He may have a medical issue.

Good luck!
