Canine Behavior/Non barking black lab

Question
We adopted Rowdy 2 months ago. He is 15 month old. He has never barked or whined....ever. Not at a cat, other dogs, people or to go outside. Is there a Labrador that has this trait naturally?

Answer
Dear Heidi,
Thanks for the question. I'm not familiar with a Labrador line that is naturally non-vocal. There are some individual dogs of all breeds that are not as vocal as others. I suspect it is due to a combination of genetic and environmental reasons. Thanks for the interesting question!

Happy Training!

I will answer all questions about canine behavior and training, training methods and equipment. Be ready to provide dog's name, age, sex, breed and how long you have owned the dog. In addition, it'd be great for me to know how long the problem has been occurring, what you have tried to solve the problem(s) and what were the results.

The more information you provide me - the better equipped I will be to offer sound, helpful advice! Thank you.
