I have a beagel/terrier mix.  We adopted her from friends about 2 1/2 years ago.  She started licking about 6 months after we got her.  She doesn't stop except when she's sleeping.  When we give her loving attention, she'll lick us, and if you put her somewhere else, she'll lick the couch, the floor, the walls....I got our couch cleaned because it was getting "crunchy" from all the licking.  It's like she can't stop!!!!!  Like I said, if I tell her no, or even just start petting her, she'll just transfer the tongue action to me!!!!  She also growls and shows teeth, which we quickly learned is her way of communicating.  She is loving and sweet.  She threatens, but even our yorkie puppy doesn't believe her.  She has never hurt him in 10 months.  And when he stops jumping on her, she stops and waits for him to come back.  Here come the teeth.  People are first shocked, but it's like her licking.  She just does it.  She is the sweetest dog ever. The first time I tried to pick her up, I thought she was going to tear into me.  Now I just laugh and pick her up.  In between showing teeth, she licks my face.  I think she's just neurotic!

I will answer all questions about canine behavior and training, training methods and equipment. Be ready to provide dog's name, age, sex, breed and how long you have owned the dog. In addition, it'd be great for me to know how long the problem has been occurring, what you have tried to solve the problem(s) and what were the results.

The more information you provide me - the better equipped I will be to offer sound, helpful advice! Thank you.
