Canine Behavior/silent dog

Question
I bought a Golden Retriever, 7 months old. She does not make any noise. she does not bark or whine, completely silent, even when she is excited.
Can there be a problem with her vocal cords ?
How can I find out ?
Can I teach her to bark ?

Answer
Dear Anton,
Thanks for the questions. Only a vet can tell if she has a medical problem.

Not barking or vocalizing in any manner whatsoever (in the absence of a medical problem) is abnormal. Does she have any other traits that seem a bit odd?

It would be easy to teach her if she whined or grumbled or offered any sounds whatsoever- but uf she truely doesn't make any sounds and you can't elicit any sounds, I'm not sure how to teach her to bark. Sorry.
