Car Alarms/Car won't start after alarm sounded off

Question
Hi:

We have a checkmate alarm system which came with our used car. We have only used it in valet mode. We parked our car and wife decided to stay in the car while I went into the store.  After coming back to the car my wife unlocked the car from the inside; the alarm sounded off while I tried to start the car.  I do not know if I pushed any of the buttons in the remote besides the unlock button.  There is an A button and a B button but we do not know what those buttons are for.
After the car alarm sounded off, we could not start our car. We tried jumping the car but again the alarm sounded off and still would not start.
We tried the valet mode by turning the ignition to the second switch position just before the start position while holding down the button under the dash but this did not work.
So it is still at the store. We left in another car and came back a few hours. The red light was blinking; we tried to start the car. Again the alarm sounded off and the car would not start. We heard constant chirping afterward but did not know what to do. We left again in another car while still hearing the chirping. Later, we came back, red light was blinking; we used unlock button to open car, there were 2 beeps. We did the valet mode procedure but then the power seemed to fade; no solid red light for valet mode; no chirping this time. there seems to be no power in the car. We again tried jumping the car and again the alarm sounded off. Still the car would not start.
Question, how do we reset the alarm so that we can start the car again. Is there a manual available for the checkmate system. Would it help if we replaced the battery; that is, could this be a battery problem?
