Question
security alarm system on 2003 alero blinks on dash, car won't start,no sound at all .The alarm never went offand i always use remote for entry. How Can I Reset to get car started .everything from starter, ignition switch, park switch  all good .i have no manual .THE KEY HAS A CHIP .I LEFT KEY IN DOOR TO SEE IF IT READ IT (20 MIN) STILL NOT EVEN A SOUND .ANY SUGGESTIONS

Answer
Right idea, wrong places though.

TO LEARN PASSLOCK II
Follow this procedures.

"1.Turn Ignition switch to on position(do not cranck engine)

2.Momentarily roll key foward so that the engine cranks
for 2 seconds.(do not try to start engine,it wont start.)

3.Wait 10 minutes

4.Observe security light. It should change state
from flashing or on to completely off.

5.turn the ignition switch to off.for 5 seconds
then the vehiocle should restart.

If this method doesnt work then use this one.

Roll the key cylinder to on, with the engine OFF.
Attempt to start the car, then release the key to
ON (vehicle will not start).

Observe the SECURITY light, after approximately
10 minutes the security light will turn OFF.

Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for
a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes (the vehicle is
now ready to relearn the Passlock™
Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the
next ignition switch transition from OFF
to CRANK). "

Should have leared and allow for start
if not damaged.

This is how GM technicians do it.

Good luck.
