Question QUESTION: We have a 2008 Pontiac G5 with a factory installed Theft Deterrent system. All was good until yesterday. It now seems to activate randomly...day or night, when no on is near it. Any ideas?
ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.
Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET
Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: It is a factory installed Content Theft-Deterrent Alarm system. It has started to go off randomly - Horn Honking, Headlights Flashing, etc. It has done it twice in hte middle of the night and now twice this morning - and no one is near it when it does.
Answer Might be detecting a power spike and triggering.
Intesting, but hard to pinpoint from here.
Best idea since it's under warranty, is to make
an appointment for inspection of the issue.
They will run a test diagnostic to determine
the trouble so you can address it if possible.
