Expert: ALARMTEK - 10/17/2010

Question
i bought a car with the viper alarmtek and have had nothing
but problems with it.

what i want to know is what ENGAGES it? on what seems to be
random occasions the system won't let me start my car. i
have 2 remotes, one from the dealer and one "viper" one with
the lock/unlock "aux"-which seems to stop the car once it
autostarts and "*" which autostarts the car. usually by
pressing these buttoms randomly (or in some sequence?) the
car gets out of "security mode" and lets me start it again.
but currently, my car is stuck in a parking lot because i
tried to get it to start for an hour and a half and then
gave up and got picked up and went home.

this has been a nightmare for me! please tell me WHY my car
is "engaged" and HOW i can get it out! so i can start my
car!
