Car Alarms/after market remote programming problem

Question
I have a 1996 chevy astro van and recently the after market door remote no longer worked. I have purchased a new one that's exactly like the old one and it tells me to flip the valet toggle switch/button in order to program the new remote and I am unable to locate where exactly this switch is. I have looked all over under the dash for it and see nothing that even resembles a switch or button for it. Is there perhaps a chart that shows where it might be?
