Question
I have taken the ignition out of my 1996 Chevy Lumina due to missing key and a tip of a different key broke off inside of it. I'm trying to find out if there's anyway possible to bypass the anti-theft and/or security to the whole car so I can stay mobile. This would be temporary only until I can replace the whole steering column; I also understand that in doing this even temporarily my car is more susceptible to theft. Well no guaranty here but since this is the GM VATS system (original)
there is a relay/resistor & bypass kit application that if done right
could do it I think.

There are 15 possible resistor code values for this passlock
system. It would be a process of elimination finding yours,
then follow the info provided to bypass the VATS.

The "key" here (pardon the pun) is that the ignition MUST
be able to turn on, not so much start at first, but
so that the ignition sense is on the and the onboard
computer/bcm code comes up. Without the ignition wire
energized, not going to work.

If you have that managed now, go get the kit
for 1 relay and socket at www.GMVATS.com (the one for 79.95)
and give it a shot. Should work on this one.
