Question
I just purchased a 97 Honda Del Sol with an aftermarket Micro Alarm #8008-99.  The previous owner lost one remote and gave me one that has the battery removed. When I install a battery the battery and the remote get hot to the touch and do not work the alarm system. The alarm must be disabled somehow, but the previous owner says he did not install the valet/override button.  Should I pursue new remotes (do you have them available; the manufacturer does not)? or just replace the system with an identical one if I can find one to purchase? If an identical system is no longer available can i use the existing wiring and just put the new "brain" in-place of the old?

Answer
Ah, well Ok, the 8008 is no longer sold at Micro, as you
probably found out already. So this can be difficult.
But I am a master dealer for them.

The problem here with exchanging brain boxes is that
the harnesses are not the same, so it's not simply plug n play.
The 8008 had a port specifically set up with internal relays
to do several types of door lock systems.
The 6008 does not. And the door lock outputs are set up
as negatives, so the main harness on the 6008 has
the door lock outputs in it. No seperate port for them.
The harnesses are not compatible with the 8008. Sorry.

However, the 6008 is still sold,
and the remotes are the same as used on the 8008.

I sell them here for 63.00 a set (2) and 10. for
a valet switch if that is what you'd like to do.

Copy cut n paste the following to purchase
for immediate shipment:

1 PAIR MICRO 6008-8008 TRANSMITTERS:
https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=installsupport%40aol.com&item_name=1-PAIR+MICRO+6008+8008+TRANSMITTERS+1-MICRO+VALET+SWITCH&item_number=1-PAIR+MICRO+6008+8008+TRANSMITTERS+1-MICRO+VALET+SWITCH&amount=73.00&no_note=1¤cy_code=USD

This will solve the problem and outfit the system with the
override/programming switch to give you the best overall experience
as well.

If not, then I'd try to locate an 8008 system and remotes
through craigslist or a similar web site.

Might get lucky. ;>)
