Expert: ALARMTEK - 8/9/2010

Question
I have been looking for the past week on how to fix this without going into the dealer. My remote battery went dead and after replacing it, my remote will not work properly. I have done many things to try to reset it, including holding the valet button for five seconds, but that hasn't worked. The only time the remote responds with the car is if the car is turned on without being started. I can unlock the doors with the unlock button but only after pressing it twice and i am already in the car.
