Car Alarms/Car Alarm / Auto Start

Question
I took my 2005 Dodge Magnum to the delearship because it was having problems with the gauges.  They would all go dead or back to zero in the middle of driving.  Well after checking it out, they said the aftermarket auto start I had put on has fried the ignition and they recommended I take it back to them.  I took to them on Friday morning and waited all day.  Finally said I had to go and walked to the car to get my garage door opener and they had the car completely apart (meaning wires everywhere).  They said they would call me Saturday.  Well Saturday turned into today.  When I called today, they are saying my car needs to be towed back to the delearship because it is not the auto start or the alarm.  Because they disconnected both of them and now it won't start.  It was running when I took it there.  I called back and asked to speak to the manager.  He says it is the BCM or the actual key.  I asked to speak to the tech and he said he has been locked out of the factory alarm and I need to get it towed to the delearship because only they can unlock it.  Is that true?  If so, how does any of this solve the original issue?  What do I need to do?

Answer
Hmmm, this intermitency does sound like the BCM
(body control module) in this car has a fault
or, is about to fail. Hard to say from my vantage
point. But the Diagnostic plug would
read the codes. Have you checked this out?
What codes is it reading? Have that checked out
by a local mechanic, but sure, the body control
module might be shot. Why is a matter of
investigation.

In any event, please go to my forum at
www.INSTALLSUPPORT.com
and repeat this question with Robert in my forum.

If anyone can guide you to the this info,
he's your man. But I am inclined to beleive
that it's either the Dodge transponder security
or, a damaged system is at work here.

Take it to Dodge for an evaluation.

Good luck.
