Expert: ALARMTEK - 8/21/2010

Question
my niece got ahold of my keys earlier this morning and my
remote started making a chiming sound. i thought she pressed
the remote starter button so i took the keys outside and
pressed the starter button and nothing happened. i then
pressed the lock button and still nothing, so then i pressed
the unlock button and again nothing. i unlocked the door
manually with the key and the alarm started sounding so i
tried starting the car to disarm the alarm and it would not
start. i disconnected a fuse on the viper alarm box under
the dash and the car will now start, just the alarm is
ineffective. my question is, is there a way to reset the
system so it will work properly with the remote or will i
have to replace it?
