1993 Cadillac DeVille
I inhereted a 1993 Cad Deville 4 dr, 65,000 mi.  Runs great, but the security light (large and low on dash) will not turn off.  On steady.  Tried both the recommended reset procedures.  Nothing has worked.  Problem is, after sitting for hours and/or days, the horns start beeping!  Only way to keep it from doing this is to unhook battery. I don't see that the security system is in the list of error-code categories.  Possibly a sensor not working (door, etc)? Would appreciate any direction you can give me.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
The alarm horn honk and headlight flash may be attributed to
an old or failing battery. Easy to fix.

If that is done, and it still causes
the security to honk the horn/flash the
lights, locate and ground the green wire in the drivers
side kick panel area, in the harness going to the
door.

If no joy at that point, the VATS system
(the chip in the key) needs to be bypassed.
