Expert: ALARMTEK - 4/29/2011

QUESTION: My factory installed alarm (which I did not know worked) was triggered and I could not get it to go off.  It finally stopped after the battery had run down.  Now, my battery won't hold a charge and is dead as a doornail.  But as soon as a jump is applied, it starts up, runs as long as I don't turn the engine off for too long.  What is draining my battery.  Is there a silent alarm on?

ANSWER: Too quick to blame the alarm.
I'd start with replacing the battry with a fresh one,
not a recharged one, then have a mechanic check the charging system
to be certain the alternator is up to snuff.

Then if the alarm is still funky, let me know.

QUESTION: My battery, alternator, timing belt, valve cover gaskets, starter, plugs, the works are all new.  Now what do you think?

Answer
All things being equal, hard to pin point it unless
its the hub of it all. The BCM (body control module)
could be a problem, andy after market relays installed
into it could cause an undue drain etc...

Next service tech on this should be a car alarm installer.
Have him get under the dash to inspect what's going on in there.

It's enirely possible it has an alarm other then factory that
is the source of all of this.
