My wives 2001 Impala has this alarm and recently started having a problem starting. We can turn the key for 8-10 minutes until it will start. This mostly happens in the morning after the car sits over night and happens about 80% of the time. Sometimes if we don't set the alarm overnight, it will start right up-sometimes. This has only happened in the afternoon once. Please help.

That is the Classic complaint here. :>(

Your Vehicle Has The GM's PASSLOCK 2
fuel rail Immobilizer/cut off system.

The PLJX Bypass kit is going to be
needed to get around this safely.

It matches the resistance level in the key switch
and allows for the fuel rail
to engage with any key
you choose to use.

I wish there was an easy way to magically
get it to work without it,

I'd bypass it and go from there with an after market
alarm to pick up the slack.
Then no GM PASSLOCK II issues to
worry about down the line.
