Car Alarms/Alarm System

Question
QUESTION: Alarm goes off at random times. I do not alarm the car, but yet it will still go off at random times, doesn't matter in cold or hot weather, day or night. Happens when I use the remote to lock the doors and when I just lock the car from the the inside panel. Alarm will still go off at times. Clicking the remote to make it stop does not work. I have to open the door and then it will stop. Sometimes it will stop by just touching the door handle. It does not happen while I am driving. I had it checked at 2 different repair shops and was told both times they can't find anything wrong. I have stopped locking the doors when the car is parked at home. Wakes everyone up in the middle of the night. But I have to lock the doors at all other times. Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Well, without the particulars (make, model & year of vehicle and type of
alarm-factory or after market alarm) the answer is difficult at best.

I need more input to give you an informed answer.

QUESTION: Sorry about that.  It is a 1999 Lincoln Continental and it is a factory alarm.  Thank you.

Answer
The answer would be dependent on a few things.
Just to be sure....

"GOING OFF?"
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Ok let's clear up the terminology glitch here.

1. FACTORY/OEM alarm = Part of the original schematics
and plans from the manufacturer.
(horn honk, head lights flash, Starter may crank and
die, no spark)

2. DEALER INSTALLED alarm = Just that. Once the vehicle
is brought to a dealer, the dealer sub contracts the after market
security out.
(horn might honk, siren and parking lights flash, starter kill relay,
no start, no crank, just dead.)

3. AFTER MARKET alarm: Same as #2 but Customer IS AWARE that
the system was put in at the dealership, but may not
be informed of the brand name, or even what it's
total capabilities are.
(siren & parking lights flash, starter kill)

Which one applies to yours?
